Current Positions:

Summer Intern – Earth Sciences (Field Based)

Location: Columbus, OH

We are seeking highly motivated students in Earth Sciences for our summer field internship program. This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on field experience in the innovative science of geologic hydrogen and contribute to our ongoing projects. We have a geochemical laboratory on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and offices in Dublin, Ohio and Denver, Colorado.

Ideal Candidate (Requirements):

  • Currently enrolled in an Earth Science program at an accredited university
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to take on technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in ArcGIS or similar mapping software(s)
  • Completed coursework in Geochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or similar

Job Responsibilities:

  • As primarily a field-based role, travel to specified sites across the USA is required
  • Safely collect multiple types of gas and fluid samples from sites of interest for geologic hydrogen
  • Make gas and water measurements using field-based geochemical instruments
  • Catalog pertinent field data and notes into spreadsheets
  • Maintain strict and careful sample organization, storage, and transport or shipment

  • Perform data analysis and research as directed by project manager
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by project manager

Exploration Geophysicist

Location: Denver, CO

Ideal Candidate (Requirements):

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in subsurface exploration, with a focus on prospecting and seismic interpretation
  • Proficiency in geophysical software such as Petrel, Kingdom or equivalent
  • Experience in potential field methods, structural geology, and rock physics
  • Proven track record of successful prospect identification and probabilistic volume and risk evaluations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and in a geographically distributed team

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Conduct detailed geophysical and geological analysis and interpretation of 2D and 3D seismic data to generate hydrogen prospects
    • Create velocity models for accurate depth converted maps
    • Seismic attribute analysis and Rock Physics to delineate hydrogen prospects
    • Utilize potential field methods, including gravity and magnetic data, to complement seismic interpretation
    • Recommend geophysical data acquisition programs
    • Stay abreast of technological advancements in geophysics and implement innovative approaches to hydrogen exploration challenges
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists and reservoir engineers, to assess the viability of prospects
    • Present findings to management and stakeholders, providing recommendations for drilling and exploration activities

    Exploration Geologist, Geophysicist

    Location: Columbus, OH

    Ideal Candidate (Requirements):

    • 2-7 years of experience as an exploration geologist or geophysicist in the oil and gas, geothermal, or mining industries
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate various types of data to evaluate resource potential
    • Experience with computer-based subsurface evaluation and mapping applications
    • Demonstrated interpretive geological skills using lithological, structural, geochemical, and geophysical data
    • Master’s or PhD degree in a related field such as geology or geophysics

    Ideal Candidate (Nice to haves):

    • Extensive depth of experience in geophysics or structural geology
    • Experience in frontier exploration
    • Experience in strategic portfolio management and opportunity ranking
    • Experience in new technology development and implementation

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Evaluation of geologic regions for natural hydrogen resource potential
    • Assist in the development of exploration models for natural hydrogen
    • Integrate datasets across multiple scales (seismic, logs, cores) to build subsurface models
    • Prospect volume and risk assessments, including high-grading leads
    • Proposal and project management of geophysical surveys and exploration wells

    Data Engineer/Scientist

    Location: Columbus, OH

    Ideal Candidate (Requirements):

    • 5-8 years of experience in datasets management, preferably in the oil and gas industry, health care field, or other sectors that compile databases from diverse data formats.
    • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
    • Strong understanding of database concepts and approaches such as SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platform and familiarity with services such as Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or Google Cloud Dataflow.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability and high attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

    Ideal Candidate (Nice to haves):

    • Strong ArcGIS or other GIS software skills, including data analysis, mapping, presentation, and web-based applications (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise).
    • Experience with streaming data processing and real-time analytics platforms such as Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, or Apache Storm.
    • Familiarity with specialty software, including Enverus, Geolog, AIRES, or Quorum.
    • Knowledge of machine learning, AI concepts and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch.
    • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Big Data Specialty or Google Professional Data Engineer.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data from diverse sources.
    • Implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to integrate data from various internal and external sources into centralized data repositories.
    • Develop and implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
    • Monitor data pipeline performance and health, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted data flow and availability.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, geologists, land personnel, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
    • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, evaluate and recommend new tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of data pipelines.
